Let’s Talk About You

IMG_3109

Happy Friday, all! I thought I’d start the day off with a really cute picture of my dog, Desh. Isn’t he adorable? He’s 4 years old and bred from two cockapoos. He’s pretty human-like. He uses the sidewalks when at all possible, uses pillows and arm rests on chairs and mimics me in the morning when I yawn. I couldn’t imagine life without the fur ball!

Anyways, onto YOU. Last August I wrote a post titled, Let’s Talk About You, and it was a way for me to get to know my readers. I thought I would do it again (and more often) since that’s mostly why I blog: to meet new people.

So in the comment section, feel free to answer the following questions (And try to leave out links within the comment – it shoots it to comment moderation or spam! Your name will link to your site when filling out the comment form!)

  1. Are you a dog or cat person?
  2. Did you or are you taking a vacation this summer? If so, where?
  3. What is one thing you splurge on? (perhaps it’s: the perfect office chair? brand name Oreos? silk sheets?)
  4. Do you believe in soul mates?
  5. The year is more than half over. What’s one goal you have for the rest of 2013?

Like every other post here, I do my best to respond to every single comment so we’ll chat soon!

*My answers: dog person, we went to Brooklyn in June, gel manis every two weeks, nope, get back on track with our financial goals

  • What an absolute cutie pie Desh is! I am definitely a dog person (but I own a cat – who hates me). I yearn after a beagle puppy in the same way I imagine other people yearn for babies!

We’re off to Iceland but it’s more of an autumn holiday than a summer one. I can’t wait though – I’ve got my fingers crossed that we see the Northern Lights!

I always splurge on steak. There’s no point doing it if you’re not doing it right, and our butcher stocks the most beautiful fillet steak, I just can’t resist.

No, I don’t think I do believe in soul mates. I think that idea negates the work that goes into relationships – they don’t just magically happen (unfortunately!).

And my goal for the year is to survive my Master’s degree. It finishes in September but I just can’t think past that moment right now. Just a few weeks left, but it’s sucking the life out of me – I’m ready for it to be over!

This was a super fun post idea – thanks :)

    • Iceland is amazing! You will love it. We went last year, and I’ve been telling everyone I know to go to Iceland. It is just so breathtaking in unexpected ways. It’s unlike anything I’d ever seen before. I’d love to go back.

      • Yay! I am so so excited – we’re only there for four days or so, but I’ve already got an itinerary as long as my arm!

    • Haha I feel like most people have cats that hate them. Cracks me up. Iceland sounds AMAZING. I can eat a quality HUGE steak if you put it in front of me (we’re twins). Totally agree re: soul mates. And GOOD luck with your Master’s, Amy! That’s so awesome. What are you getting it in?

      • The reason we got a cat was because we looked after the happiest cat in the world for a month, and when she was gone we were bereft of her love and affection. I feel we were a bit tricked!

It’s in Gender, Sexuality and Queer Theory (a bit of a mouthful!). Only a few more weekends of work left – the end is finally in sight!

    • I must say: our cats love us. The whole family. Specially the older cat -she’s mega sweet, calm, respectful, caring… She actually wakes up and go to the door to greet us when we arrive from a night out (no matter what time it is) and to greet my husband when she’s leaving for work. Lovely thing!!!
She’s also super smart and absolutely does everything we say (go up, go down, go out, go in, etc). I’m now taking advantage of this and trying to teach her how to do the dishes -this will save me loads of time. LOL

  • Thanks for the awesome post! :) That’s one thing I love about you and your blog: getting personal with your readers.

I’m a pet person (dogs, cats, chinchillas, you name it!) -right now we have 2 cats.
NO vacation in almost 10 years here. =/ We plan to go to Boston around August (fingers crossed!).
I spend a lot on furniture, specially for the office. Crazy, I know!
I do. Such a rare thing though.
Lose weight. This has been my goal for the past 3 years (unsuccessfully lol). Thankfully all other goals for the year have been achieved (happy dance!).

    • Aw thanks Kelly!! I like that you call yourself a pet person. I’ve only ever had Desh and a bunny when I was younger. 10 years without a vacation?! You gotta go to Boston!

Where do you get your office furniture? We tend to go to IKEA and it’s just…crap usually. Good luck with your weight lose goal! You can do it.

    • Oh, no!!! My next purchase was planned to be on IKEA. Oh, man! So the stuff is cute, but cheap. Well, figures -the price IS cheap. lol

I usually buy from local and small furniture shops in a Portuguese community in New Jersey.

      • It doesn’t necessarily break but yes it’s a bit cheap. We still love it for things like desks and tables!!

  • 1. I’m totally a dog person. I have a 7 year old golden retriever that was a birthday gift from my ex. She’s been my faithful furry friend and traveled with me all over the states.

    2. I’m not really taking a vacation, but I have done some camping and spent some days at the lake in NC.

    3. Shoes, my bed, a quality couch…. wait that’s three things…oopps

    4. Eh… dunno if I believe in soul mates necessarily. I don’t think it’s about finding the perfect person…. it’s more about becoming your best self.

    5. I want to finish my kitchen remodel. I’m so tired of the mish-mash I have going on in there right now.

    • DOGS FTW! Was it ever weird that she was from your ex? I always get sad when people split up and they have a pet (or children, obviously haha).

We’re going to our family lakehouse next weekend and I CAN’T WAIT! I tend to like lakes since all the sand can get on my nerves.

This year we finally splurged on a couch. I felt like such a grown up.

  • Um, I like dogs much more than cats, but can I add my own? I’m a chicken person! :)

I’m going to MIchigan for two weeks next month & we’re adding a day & a half on at the end of the trip to get some Chicago pizza & a few glimpses of Navy Pier. Last (likely) trip before our baby arrives in December.

I like nice candles and coffee, but am the bargainist shopper for most things.

I think soul mates CAN exist, but I don’t think they’re required for happiness. I love my husband so much, but more now than ten years ago because of all the work we’ve put into our marriage.

My goal for the rest of the year is to finish baby’s nursery & take great care of myself to have the healthiest pregnancy I can. Possibly also get control of our finances again, too. :)

    • Chicken person! Amazing! Have fun in Chicago – I hope to be up there in August too. Also, totally agree about putting work into your marriage. And good luck with your pregnancy! How exciting!! First?

  • 1. I am a cat person. While I can appreciate the cuteness of dogs, I don’t want one. We have a cat. She is purr-fect.

    2. We took a Disney Cruise in the spring and plan a short trip to the Hocking Hills in the next two weeks. I am planning a solo trip to NYC in the fall. Shhh…. don’t tell anyone.

    3. I continue to splurge on the Umba Box. The variety is great. The things that don’t suit me, I have given as gifts and they were perfect. I have developed a great network of small artsy business– and I have made follow up purchases, given gifts. It feels decadent… giving myself a little surprise each month.

    4. I do, but not in the one and only kind of way. I think we are energetic drawn to certain people. We some how are able to “know” them on a deeper level. I do not believe in the one and only…

    5. Once school is back in session, I plan to start writing in earnest again.

    • I won’t tell anyone about the NYC trip :) That sounds so fun.

Love hearing about Umba. I always felt like Birchbox’s samples were too small to gift. Good interpretation of soul mates too, Susan. I totally agree!

  • Aw, your pup is absolutely adorable! :)

I honestly love both dogs and cats. I have two cats right now (big, lazy barn cats that are brothers). I hope someday in the future I can get a dog. I once came across a French bulldog puppy and immediately knew that was the kind of dog I wanted.

Sadly, no vacations for me this summer. We’re saving up money for our next big move on October 1st and for Christmas presents. I hope to make it up next year with plenty of traveling.

I like to splurge on a really good bag of coffee from Intelligentsia. I tell myself it doesn’t really count as splurging since I’ve been making my own iced coffee all summer, haha.

I don’t really believe in soul mates. When it comes to love and relationships, I like to think of this instead:
“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

My goal for the rest of 2013 is to keep saving up and possibly pay off one of my smaller student loans. Fingers crossed!

    • Thanks girl :) He’s pretty awesome. French bulldogs are SO cute. I met one once at a pet shop in Indianapolis and he was adorable.

Where are you moving in October? Big props to you for saving (and especially for Christmas gift giving!)

BTW- that theory on being weird and finding someone who is just as weird is AMAZING. My husband and I can be so stinkin weird together.

  • 1. I think I’m both? I currently have a cat (bootsie) who has completely changed my life. But I would love to have a dog when I have a house with room for it to run around

    2. I took a weekend trip with a friend to louieville, KY and it was a blast! Also I’m planning a trip to Nashville in September for one of my best friends wedding, so I’m definitely looking forward to checking out all the cool little spots! And Hatch of course!

    3. this month I’ve splurged on cooking classes. I took a macaron class last weekend and I’m taking a mexican class this weekend. that and everything at target :P

    4. Deep down I do, but lately I’ve been having the “I’m 26, when is this gonna happen” feeling. I know it will, but sometimes I get tired of the dating game

    5. I’m always shocked when it’s July. Like, how did this happen so quick?! The rest of the year I want to continue doing freelance chalk stuff and start selling cards and invites on etsy. I also want to get back into my work out routine and try different classes (bare ballet, hip hop, POUND, more kick boxing)

    • Ohh have so much fun in Nashville! I’ve been wanting to go for awhile now! And I love that you take cooking classes. I would love to do that this winter. You’ve inspired me.

I don’t really believe in soul mates but I do think my husband is the perfect match for me. You’ll find him.

Good luck with the Etsy stuff! That’s such a fun goal!

  • 1. Dog person! We just adopted a Chihuahua/Beagle puppy in May and he is the love of our lives! (PS – your dog is so dang adorable! Goodness!)
    2. For our 2 year wedding anniversary in June we took a trip down to San Diego <3
    3. Quality hair care products and makeup. The toxins are not worth the cheap price!
    4. Not really. I love my husband to death, but the concept of soul mates doesn't seem all that romantic to me.
    5. I have lots of goals! I just started a year-long happiness project where I tackle 4 goals per month. I'm excited to see where the year takes me :)

    • Aw congrats on the dog adoption!! So fun to have a little buddy around.

How did you like San Diego? We want to take so many west coast trips but never know where to start.

And I’m totally with you re: hair and makeup products. Keep me posted on the 4 goals per month? I love that idea. Are they all somehow connected?

      • I love San Diego! I grew up about an hour from there so I went there a lot as a kid. But my hubby grew up north of LA so he hasn’t spent a lot of time there. It was the perfect trip. SD is a MUST for any trip to SoCal. It’s gorgeous :)

I’m doing my own Happiness Project based on the book by Gretchen Rubin…not sure if you’ve heard of it. (You should totally check it out if you haven’t read it!) So basically each month has a theme of an area I want to improve my Happiness (this month was Health, next month is Simplicity, etc.) and I created four goals related to the theme. This goes on for a whole year! I don’t want to be spammy and leave the link, but I update my blog every Thursday on my progress. It’s been fun so far!

  • 1. Totally a dog person. Cats sort of freak me out.
    2. Currently on my summer vacation in Rome and next week in Paris. Loving every minute.
    3. I don’t think I can type this for the world to see, but in the spirit of sharing, I’ll send you a DM. Lol. Also, I realize saying what I just said allows for imaginations to run wild, but hopefully you’re the only one that reads the comments and so you’ll be the one to get a good laugh :)
    4. I agree with you – A big nope on that one. It makes it sound too easy.
    5. The same goal I’m working on in Sucker Punch Monday – Creating a community of hostesses and entertainers on my blog!

    • Haha cats freak me out too but I understand the love for your pet so I’d never judge anyone :)

SOOO excited that you’re in Rome/Paris. Ah and can’t wait for blog updates on it all after you return?

I can’t wait to see you develop a community of like-minded people on your blog. So proud of you, Jess!

  • Logan Potts

I’m pretty convinced dogs are soul mates. My chocolate lab Ellie is so much like me. We look a lot alike too I think.

Are you a dog or cat person?

    I love all dogs.

Did you or are you taking a vacation this summer? If so, where?

Headed to the coast next weekend. Either Charelston, Savanah, Destin, Seaside or Gulf Shores. What’s your favorite east coast/gulf beach?

What is one thing you splurge on?

I’ll drop the extra money for American made quality tools always. Oh and for the best pad Thai in town at Dmiling Elephant. TREAT YO SELF

Do you believe in soul mates?

I’m more of a romantic than I care to let on to. So yes. But true love is hard & a battle of selflessness with whomever one is with.

The year is more than half over. What’s one goal you have for the rest of 2013?

Trying to do a new piece every week. I’d like to take the full plunge into self employment again this late fall. Catching the Christmas rush.

    Hey thanks for asking!

    • I think Desh is my spirit animal/demon (not like the devil version but like an extension of myself). He literally mimics me and acts like me all the time.

I really liked Gulf Shoes (orange beach) when we went years ago. I’ve heard Charleston can be SO fun. Let me know what you choose. I’m an east coast lover myself.

When I come to Nashville sometime we should meet up! Or I’ll just get recs from you too. Excited to see your work + relaunch. I’d still love to chat about a site design!!

  • i. I was quite sure I was always a cat person … until I got a dog, a Mini Aussie.

ii. We didn’t take any trips this year due to the baby coming but we are planning wonderful trips for next year/ summer.

iii. Recently I’ve grown a scarf fascination. It’s hit as Hades outside and I’m stuck on my autumn/ winter fashion. Actually, let’s just say accessories overall because I love bows and jewelry and anything that brings out “who I am”

iv. I don’t. I don’t think that one singular soul is out there waiting for you when there are billions of people in the world who need someone to com into their life and love them the way they need to be. Plus I feel like I’ve loved too many times for there to be just one person to complete me.

    v. Heh, I have a lot of inner things I want to get done before the end of the year. But if I had a true goal, I would have to say figure out my business and fix our financial issues as well.

I love bloggers who want to get to know their readers and communicate with them. Thanks for asking, honestly.

    • Congrats on a baby on the way! First one?

How do you wear your scarves? I can never get them the way that I love them.

OH and I totally agree re: soul mates. But I love what someone else said on these comments: we can have soul mates in anyone (friends, business partners, significant others, etc) if we connect on a deeper level.

  • 1. Cat, all the way! Though I really do enjoy fluffy little dogs like Desh. They make me think I’d be ok getting a dog.

    2. We went to Costa Rica in June with my husband’s company. We’re headed to Flagstaff in August, Chicago in September (for the STORY conference), and potentially Nashville in October. It’s a busy few months!

    3. I’m not much of a splurger. I’m more of a buy-things-when-they’re-40%-off-clearance kinda girl. But I do buy Josie Maran argan oil moisturizer with SPF. I’m very fair and have had too many severe sunburns in my life. So I guess that’s a splurge, but I consider it necessary!

    4. I don’t know if I believe in soul mates. I do know that there’s no one else I could’ve successfully married at 22 other than my husband!

    5. I want to dominate JavaScript, successfully build a couple Ruby on Rails apps, and figure out whether I prefer front or back end development so that I can move toward freelancing or a full-time job in the fall. I also want to keep building my blog and introduce a fun new feature or series. So many goals for the rest of the year!

    • Lots of travel! I love it. And good choice on your splurges. I love Josie Maran and anything with argan oil. I’ll need to try that one out.

And girl, I totally understand and relate about your soul mate comment. I don’t know who else would have been as great for me. I got married at 22 too.

Good luck with your development goals!! We should talk about any potential collaboration. We’re always looking for good devs.

      • I’d love to collaborate down the line! Let me know when you’re looking for a developer!

  • Hello! Oh I’d love to make a new blog friend!

Are you a dog or cat person?
DOG person for sure, all the way, 100 percent. Absolutely. Completely. No question.

Did you or are you taking a vacation this summer? If so, where?
I normally go to Acadia Maine (if you have never been, you seriously have to), and last year I went to Germany and France as well. But this year just a few camping trips.

What is one thing you splurge on? (perhaps it’s: the perfect office chair? brand name Oreos? silk sheets?)
My college education! As expensive as my private college is, it’s worth it, because I love it.

Do you believe in soul mates?
Not in the way that there is one person for another person. But in the way that when we connect with someone (anyone), we connect through our souls.

The year is more than half over. What’s one goal you have for the rest of 2013?
Hmmm, land a photography internship with a wedding photographer in Boston for second semester.

Thank you so much for asking, you seem so genuine and wonderful!

    • I loooove your opinion about soul mates. So wonderful.

I’ve never been to Acadia Maine but I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Maine. I’ve been to New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts + more but never Maine.

Thanks for answering questions. Loved seeing your comments here. Thanks for reading, Juliette!

  • Definitely a dog person. I don’t dislike cats – and grew up having them – I just never need my own. They just aren’t always loving and loyal like dogs. Too finicky.

We went to Vegas in May for my sister’s wedding (she lives there). We are actually tired of Vegas, but love to visit her of course. Not taking another…we have a lot to do to get ready for a baby this fall
    .
Splurge…hmmm…I get a $50 haircut because Nurtur is an amazing salon. My hair is superfine and straight and would look just as good with a $20 hack job. I only need to go about 4 times per year though.

I don’t believe in soul mates. I think you can love more than one person in your life – otherwise people who get divorced or widowed could never find true love again. There are different levels of love and maybe you can be more connected to one than another, but I don’t know that I could call it soul mates.

To not suck at being first-time parents, lol! Seriously though…that’s a lot of pressure. I want to enjoy it and not be stressed and worried about everything. I’m quite laid-back, so I should be fine, but still need to keep it as a goal.

    • Yeah I feel like cats know that I don’t like them so they won’t leave me a lot. It’s comical.

Vegas can exhaust me. Too much smoke. People. Loudness. I do love the dry heat though!!

I spend a lot on my hair too. I got my hair colored this year for the first time and realize I need to get it cut MORE now. Ugh.

You will rock being a parent!! All my friends who are laid back have the best kiddos.

  • 1.Are you a dog or cat person? dog person

2.Did you or are you taking a vacation this summer? If so, where? It would seem that summer camp with 500+ high school students was my summer vacation this year…but that’s okay (see #4!)

3.What is one thing you splurge on? (perhaps it’s: the perfect office chair? brand name Oreos? silk sheets?) Not sure there’s anything I regularly splurge on… I have been known to splurge on mascara, but have discovered I prefer CoverGirl to Dior… who knew?

4.Do you believe in soul mates? of the friend variety for sure. Romantically? Not so much.

5.The year is more than half over. What’s one goal you have for the rest of 2013? to finish raising the support I need and to travel it to Australia for 8 months with YWAM

    • I totally meant to reference question 5 as to why I’m not mad about no vacation this year… instead I reference 4 which is awkward and doesn’t make sense, ha.

    • Haha! It’s okay. I embrace awkward.

Hey if you love CoverGirl over Dior – rock that! Now I need to test. I’ve always wanted to do full drugstore vs brand name products for myself.

Love your opinion about soul mates too. I have friend soul mates for sure. It’s awesome.

Good luck with Australia, Emily! That is so exciting! You’ll never want to come back!

  • 1. Definitely a dog person, though I don’t have one right now. I went to a pet store with a friend yesterday and it was all I could do not to take a puppy home with me.

    2. No vacations planned really. I moved to the suburbs of Chicago a little over a year ago and haven’t done too much exploring, so I’m hoping to wander the suburbs and spend more time in the city.

    3. Hair cuts. I refuse to go to those cheap “salons”, like great clips. My hair tends to misbehave so a good cut is crucial.

    4. I don’t think so. It puts way to much pressure on finding “the one.”

    5. I’m working on getting healthy. I’ve ate horribly for so long and not been very active and I’ve definitely been feeling the effects. I’m in the middle of doing Whole30 right now so my goal is to finish that strong and get into a good routine of exercising and eating well.

    • Oh gosh I bet that was tough NOT getting a puppy! Those places can be dangerous. What Chicago suburb do you live in? Was it Naperville?

I also spend a lot of money on my haircuts but I don’t go super often. After coloring my hair, however, I’ve learned that I need to go more often now. Lame.

Good luck with Whole30! That’s awesome, girl!

      • Brianna

Yeah, I am in Naperville. It’s been pretty good so far. It really helped when I found a good church to go to. The church has a great young adult group that meets every week so I’ve been able to find some quality new friends…I was a little worried about that when I moved here without knowing anyone.

  • 1. I’d say dog, but really I prefer reptiles haha. Fish, frogs, lizards, snakes. :P
    2. It’s Winter here in New Zealand, but I have been hanging out for a trip. My best friend and I were going to hit up Rarotonga (islands not far from here) to get some warmth. But instead we are going to Melbourne in Australia for a shopping trip in September. I can’t freaking wait!
    3. Camera gear haha. I think even if we hadn’t gotten into doing wedding and other photography, we still would have ended up buying a crapload of camera gear just for fun. Nearly have an entire set of prime lenses, just one to go really! The 135mm.
    4. No. I pretty much agree with most people above who said not really.
    5. My goal for the rest of the year is to finally quit my full time graphic design job and go freelance – predominantly photography but a bit of graphic design in there too! Especially in the Winter months.

    • Ahhh winter. When it’s so hot here I crave the fall/winter months.

GIRL I totally hear you re: camera gear. Holy crap I’ve spent a lot. And you can totally freelance. You will ROCK that. Can’t wait to see what’s to come.

  • I love both, really. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs.
I’m pregnant so the only summer vacation I’m taking is staycation -_-
I splurge on furniture pieces, my hair, makeup and my closet. I’d rather have one nice thing of something than a bunch of cheap items taking up my space. And I splurge on my hair. My weekly blow dries save my sanity.
I believe based on your decisions in life, you’ll be bound to meet someone for you, but not “soul mate”.
Honestly, I just want to get over this heat and get this baby outta here!

    • I’m getting now to where I invest in things vs buying a cheaper version. It’s really awesome.

I’m excited to hear about motherhood through you. You’re going to be a classy mama.

  • 1. I’m a cat person. I have two kittens and a full sized cat currently. I was really allergic to cats when I was young, but I seem to have mostly grown out of the allergy. It only really bothers me if I have to do a task like cleaning the litter box.

    2. My boyfriend and I took a weekend getaway to Vermont to visit some friends in June, but I just started a new job and he’s super busy with his work currently so I don’t think we’ll get another getaway in until the fall.

    3. Electronics and alcohol.

    4. I don’t know.

    5. I want to pay off my back taxes by the end of the year.

    • How was Vermont? I’ve always wanted to go. Mostly because of White Christmas. Hehe.

Electronics. That’s for sure. I totally understand.

Oh and good luck with back taxes. Gosh those are the worst.

  • i love these posts! i love the direction the blog is taking:

    1. i don’t have an opinion on that yet. i’d rather not make anyone angry. i love how adorably human dogs are, but at the same time… have you all seen the disney aristocats?

    2. i concentrated my traveling in three weeks at the beginning of the summer and i just came back. i’m still editing and sharing pictures on the blog. i went to menorca with friends and to the italian alps with my family.

    3. the mac laptop i bought with babysitting money. it sounds dramatic, but it changed my life.

    4. i don’t think so, but who knows?

    5. send out good college applications. you have no idea of how much that stresses me out.

    • Thank you Giulia!! You are such an amazing reader.

I feel that way too. But I just don’t love cats. Mostly because I’m allergic.

That’s exciting about college applications though!! Where did you apply?

  • 1. I own a dog and two cats, and while I absolutely love my dog to pieces and can’t imagine not having her around, I’ll admit, I’m a llllleeeeeeeeettttllllleeee bit more of a cat person. I think it’s because I’m an introvert. Cats are very much introverts.
    2. No vacation for me – sigh. But I’m hoping to get to go to Chicago in early November to go see “Wicked” (for the fourth time!).
    3. I always splurge on chocolate. I don’t eat Hershey’s – I want the good stuff. I’d rather have a small piece of good quality chocolate than an entire bar of cheap stuff.
    4. I don’t think so – but is that because there aren’t any or because I haven’t met mine? I am a true Missourian, you have to show me before I believe it.
    5. I want to get back to blogging regularly! My blog has been sadly neglected as of late.

    • I’ve never really thought of cats as introverts but you’re so right!

I’ve seen Wicked twice and would love to again! I haven’t since probably 2007 or 2008.

I hope you start blogging more regularly. Love yours!

  • 1. This is a tough one and I can never decide. I am always cuddling dogs and cats when I see them. Sadly I can’t adopt any as my fiance is allergic to animal hair :(
    2. I already took my annual vacation to McLeod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is a Tibetan settlement and mighty beautiful. We had a lovely, relaxed time there eating delicious food and also met such friendly and warm people.
    3. One thing I splurge on is organic food. I love to roam the aisles in a market and buy health/organic/new/interesting food.
    4. I do believe in soul mates. I also believe that a person can have more than one. Strange but true for me.
    5. The biggest and most common goal – to get back into shape. I plan to start yoga and running for now.

    • Oh that can be tough when someone has an allergy. Your vacation, however, sounds amazing! Have you blogged about it?

Oh and I totally share your love of splurging on organic and quality food! We put it into our bodies, why not spend more money on it??

      • Havent got around to blogging about it but surely plan to. Maybe that should be my goal :)

  • Are you a dog or cat person?
    Dog! I have two.

Did you or are you taking a vacation this summer? If so, where?
No big vacations this year. Will be doing a few day trips to the beach though.

What is one thing you splurge on?
    Perfume.

Do you believe in soul mates?
Yes. Though I’m still waiting to meet mine. ;)

The year is more than half over. What’s one goal you have for the rest of 2013?
Simplify my life and get rid of all of the unnecessary clutter. Began that project this weekend.

    • The beach sounds fun!! What kind of perfume is your favorite?

Oh and I totally hear you re: clutter. I need to start on that ASAP!!

  • 1. I’m a cat person. We’ve always had cats throughout my childhood. I love dogs (especially collies), but I’m very allergic.
    2. I took a vacation to Lake Winnebago this summer. It was fantastic!
    3. I splurge on jewelry. I love rings especially, so I’ll definitely spend a pretty penny on an awesome ring, especially if it is handmade!
    4. I believe that we have people we are destined to meet and have in our lives, but I think that potentially there could be one or more person that could be your “soul mate.” It all depends on timing!
    5. I want to restart my clean eating and simplify my life in any means possible! I graduate college in December and I’ll be going through a big transition, so I hope that my life can be as balanced and stress free when that happens!

    • I’m allergic to cats so I’m pretty sure that’s mostly why I’m not a cat person. I feel your pain. Oh and I love rings too. My favorite kind of jewelry. Bracelets and necklaces always feel weird to me.

Good luck with clean eating. Once I get into it it’s so easy but gosh when I get out of it… it can be bad. Usually controlling that part of my life is the best for me.

  • 1. I’m not really an animal person
    2. No vacation plans this summer. I did go to Hawaii in April for my honeymoon
    3. I splurge on skincare products. I like taking care of my skin and sometimes I splurge on makeup, too!
    4. Sort of.
    5. My goal for the rest of the year is to put in more and more effort into my blog as the year goes on.

    • I actually wasn’t an animal person until I got my dog. So I totally get it.

Hawaii!! yay. How did you like it? We were there in March. I can’t remember if we talked about it though.

  • 1. cats!
    2. yes, we just got back from nashville
    3. getting a pedicure with my mom once a month
    4. yes
    5. to get back on track with clean eating

    • I’ve been wanting to go to Nashville! I went there so much while I was in college.

As for the pedicures, I definitely get them more in the summer (which makes sense). Good luck with the clean eating!! It’s simple but difficult to get back into…

  • 1. Are you a dog or cat person? I have a cat but really love dogs more. They just exude love and personality. My cat’s okay but he certainly doesn’t feel it’s his mission in life to shower me with love :)
    2. Did you or are you taking a vacation this summer? If so, where? Taking a few shorter trips here and there…already been to Ohio and Charleston, SC. Next up is Portland, Maine and California for the Ohio State game in September!
    3. What is one thing you splurge on? Rent and travel. NYC is an expensive place to live AND get away from!
    4. Do you believe in soul mates? No.
    5. The year is more than half over. What’s one goal you have for the rest of 2013? Sit on the couch and relax. I feel like I’ve been running around like crazy since January 1.

    • I agree – dogs definitely affirm their love for you :)

Let me know when you come to the OSU game! I’d love to grab a drink after!! And enjoy relaxing in between all those awesome trips!

  • 1. Are you a dog or cat person? Most definitely a cat person. Though I seem to be married to and have spawned a dog loving family?
    2. Did you or are you taking a vacation this summer? If so, where? I am on vacation right now! At our lakehouse in Northern MI. We go on a ton of mini vacations year round as well.
    3. What is one thing you splurge on? Mexican Coke. Obviously.
    4. Do you believe in soul mates? No. But I do believe in Co-Pilots.
    5. The year is more than half over. What’s one goal you have for the rest of 2013? To find the right people to collaborate with.

    • Dog loving family FTW :)

Glad to hear you guys got away to Michigan (despite car problems).

Also- co-pilots. Gosh I love you. And I agree. Let’s hang out soon with Mexican coke.
