March’s 3 New Things
We’re traveling for half of the month of March so I decided to try 3 new things that I could do…anywhere:
- Practice yoga daily. Even if it’s for 10 minutes in our bedroom, on the beaches of Hawaii or attending my first ever class here in Columbus. My friend Jess inspired me to start trying it and so we’ll see what happens! Photo found on Free People’s blog. Gorgeous, isn’t it?
- Take unique film portraits. Even if it’s for free. I want to capture something unique and find ways to pull out peoples’ personalities. I’ll definitely be using my gorgeous sister while we’re on vacation to shoot. Photo by Simon Filip.
- Learn (more) code. I know HTML/CSS and can tinker around in some other stuff but I want to learn it right. My friend Janine inspired this one and I signed up for Treehouse after she raved about it.
I’ve been so unmotivated lately and I don’t know why. Just in a slump I suppose. I’m hoping these 3 new things help pull me out of it. Do you have any goals for March?

I always find your three new things so inspiring. It really makes me think about what I want to accomplish for the month.
This month I’ll mostly be trying: a blog redesign, taking more photos of everyday life, and running once – twice a week.

I am really excited to see you reach for these three things! They are all exciting, alight with your life/business goals, and have long lasting impact. p.s. if you ever have a hankering for taking photos of kids, you can drag mine all around DC. :)

I don’t know if it’s the weather or what, but I know so many people in slumps right now (me included). I really need to get back to setting a few small goals each month & maybe that will help get me out of it.
One thing I definitely want to do this month is learn more design code too! I’m in the process of working on my up & coming blog right now, but the slump has put me behind schedule. Maybe I will put aside some time to just play around with what I know & inspire me to yearn for more.
I love your goals! Film photography is so beautiful & it’s sad that it’s not used as much anymore. Sure digital is nice & quick, but there’s something so magical about the whole film photography process.

I’ve been in a slump too lately. Blaming it on the weather – the birds are chirping but it’s still so gray and icky outside.

I’m curious, how do you find your photography subjects for the more intimate/portrait-style shoots? Do you just use people you know? This is something I also would like to grow in, but I still don’t really feel like I “know” anyone here enough to ask them to be my subjects. Perhaps it’s just a matter of being bold/brave. :)
I’m currently catching up with HTML5, and my next language to tackle is JavaScript/jQuery. Code is so exciting.

Yay! I love it when you announce your monthly three things. I might share mine on the blog this weekend as well – I’ve been mentally keeping track of them and it helps me stay on my game. Did you see that Elise Blaha is doing a daily yoga thing?
Also, if you want to go to a yoga class here in Columbus, I have a free class at Yoga on High that you could use! My favorite class is on Sunday afternoons and I like to stop by Northstar for juice after. :)
