Aveda Columbus Giveaway
I’m excited to announce this week’s giveaway to all my Columbus readers! Aveda Columbus, one of my April sponsors, has generously offered to give away a pair of Earth Jam tickets (you will be seated right next to the runway), two $25 service giftcards, AND the Aveda Stress Fix line to one lucky winner! Amazing, right?? I’ve loved collaborating and promoting Aveda’s brand (especially the Aveda Institute here in Columbus and my favorite salon, Nurtur). This year Aveda Columbus has been partnering with the Ohio Chapter of Sierra Club and their Clean Water Campaign. You can see all the events and ways that Aveda Columbus is fundraising here.
Now back to the giveaway! In order to enter this giveaway, you must comment and answer the following question:
What’s one thing that you could do take care of our environment on a daily or routine basis?
Your answer will count as ONE entry. You can also enter three more times by doing the following:
- Follow Aveda Columbus on Twitter and comment afterwards.
- Like Aveda Columbus on Facebook and comment afterwards.
- Tweet about this giveaway and include the link to the tweet.
Good luck to all who enter. I wish I could! This giveaway will end Sunday, April 22nd at 11:59pm (Earth Day!) and the winner will be chosen at random and announced Monday, April 23rd!

The biggest thing I try to do for the environment is finding new uses / repurposing old things. If I can’t repurpose, then I recycle.

I try my best to reuse containers every day for lunch and recycle everything I use for dinner. I have seen reusable paper towels (cloth) which I have been toying with the idea. Can’t wait to see what others say!

I regularly walk to the grocery and I love using reusable bags too. We recycle as much as we can.. and I am a big ‘turning lights off’ girl ;)

Bartering with friends for tools, food, space, etc that we don’t all need to own but can share and swap!

drew and i compost, extensively recycle, upcycle, reuse, and wear predominantly used clothing regularly. we avoid products in single use packaging (buy bulk!).
i’d like table linens and a better way to air dry clothes this year!

I would select to monitor my water usage. I definitely try to be conscious of how much water I use and I try not to let it run too long. Ideally, some sort of privately funded incentive for reducing water usage would be great.

I really want to install a rain barrel. We should put the rain water to good use, watering the floors, rinsing the deck, washing our dirty hands and feet outside.

I could definitely be printing on double sided paper more often… or not printing at all. Thanks for raising awareness, Allie!

I have been making a more intentional effort to either walk or bike to my evening destinations (yoga, grocery store and the library) instead of my automobile!

i could drive less. but, as i work 30+ min away from home, taking public transportation would probably take horrifically long. Instead, I’m considering going mainstream-meat free, growing a garden, and shopping more at my local farmer’s markets. all of these options would leave both me and the planet a little bit healthier.

As much as OSU does to recycle, off campus doesn’t keep up. I can contribute by recycling all my cans, bottles, and papers and taking them to the Kroger down the street to the recycling dumpsters (now not having a recycling bin at my apartment isn’t an excuse!)

I recycle, volunteer, ride my bike or walk instead of driving, and donate money to various organizations in the community and nationally to help the environment. I currently am trying to get more of my friends to do the same.

Twice a year I clean out my closet and donate the clothes that I know I will never wear again to a local women’s shelter.
-
Now that I live closer to a grocery store I am going to walk every day! I also started using reusable garbage bags:)

I recycle everyday and educate others on why they should recycle. I hate seeing others throw away plastic water bottles when they could recycle them!

(I hate to admit this) I just started recycling and I can’t beleive how much we used to throw in the landfill. It’s work, but I feel like it is worth it..
